Ladakh 3 Lakes – Summer 2017

THE SUMMER 2017 NEWSLETTER

Ladakh 3 Lakes – Summer 2017

First, a word from RC Peter:
Dear friends, it’s still a bit too early for the regular autumn newsletter, but I just had to get the word out about my latest project: I want to announce a very special grand tour – one that combines all of my favorite regions and tracks and numerous new highlights.

I’m going to be on the road for four months straight in spring and summer of 2019. A serious adventure is taking shape.

And I want to to invite my Classic Bike Adventure friends.

Classic Bike Tours 2018

Eight countries and the entire Himalayas, all on one tour!

Vietnam – Laos – Thailand – Yunnan – Myanmar – Mizoram – Assam – Bhutan – Sikkim – Darjeeling – Nepal – Mustang – Uttarakhand – Himachal – Spiti Valley – Ladakh – Kullu Valley

Peter's Great Classic Bike Adventure
Southeast Asia and Himalaya Farewell Tour
in Spring and Summer 2019

Classic Bike Classic Bike

For all of our friends who want to head out for a real experience with Road Captain Peter, this is could well be your last chance.

Each leg of the journey will be about 14 days long and offer at least 14 unforgettable adventures. Each leg will cost around €3,000 or less – slightly more for Bhutan – for the complete package. International flights to the starting point and home from the destination are not included.

We’ll be using a variety of bikes. For India, Bhutan and Nepal to Ladakh, we’ll take our tried and true Royal Enfield Bullets, cruising the dirty roads and tracks together with our experienced crews, local guides and partners of the last 30 years.

We’re going to take it easy, stay in beautiful places and take the occasional day off to kick back and relax...

We’ll be setting out from Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, and wrap things up with a farewell party at Peter’s farmhouse in Kullu Valley five months later.

The route consists of seven legs that you can book a la carte – or as one complete tour of a lifetime. We’re going to keep the group small, with twelve bikes at the most. Stay tuned for more info in the autumn...

1a) Chiang Mai, Thailand – Luang Prabang, Laos – Hanoi, Vietnam (March)

2b) Hanoi, Vietnam – Laos – Yunnan up to Shangri-La via Dali, southern China – Chiang Mai, Thailand (March)
1a) and 2b) can only be booked together.

3) Chiang Mai, Thailand – Myanmar – Mizoram, India - Guwahati, India (April)

4) Guwahati, India – from East to West through Bhutan – Sikkim – Darjeeling, India (April)

5) Darjeeling, India – from East to West through Nepal and up to Mustang – Corbett National Park, India (May).
We’re going to take a break between 5) and 6).

6 a + b) Corbett National Park, India – Uttarakhand – Himachal up the Spiti Valley – Leh, Ladakh (June).
We have another break planned between 6) and 7).

7) Leh, Ladakh – a two-week lap around Ladakh, then down into – Kullu Valley – the tour finale and party at Peter’s mountain home, the Casa Kath Kuni (July/August)

We’re putting together further information about the tour now, and we will be nominating the participants by the coming winter. By then we’ll also know who will be on which legs of the tour.

South India Tour

Winter will be here before you know it, but we have the perfect antidote: bikes are still available on our classic Goa and South India tours, a great way to beat the winter blues with tropical biking in an exotic wonderland.

South India Tour

Sonia and Road Captain Peter will also be on this tour from Kerala to Goa, teamed up with Road Captains Willy or Martin.

Casa Tres Amigos, Goa

And if you’re not up to a South India tour, you’re more than welcome to decompress at the Casa Tres Amigos in Goa. We’re open from September to April, with a new pool and pool bar this season – and everything else just as welcoming and laid-back as ever.

We have the best Royal Enfield Bullets ready for our house guests for short or long rides to the many idyllic beaches in the South and North, the jungles and hills of the Western Ghats and the ruins of old forts and temples. There’s a lot to discover, and we’re always happy to point spontaneous biker groups in the right direction with our routing tips.

In other news, the Ladakh season is happening right now, and this year we’re tackling the highest Himalayan passes with four groups of 14 to 20 bikers each. Here are a few impressions.

Ladakh Tour Summer 2017

If you want to join us in Ladakh next year, a few bikes are still available on three tours...

Our best-selling tour for the past nine years!

The Three Lakes of Ladakh

THE HIGHEST LADAKH TOUR OF ALL TIME!

FIVE 5,000-METER PASSES TO THE THREE LAKES OF LADAKH!
Tackle five different 5,000-meter passes, including the three highest passes in the world – and a number 4,000ers as well – on the way to the three most beautiful lakes in the Himalayas and the wild Nubra Valley.
We start by flying from Delhi to Leh and back from there, with 13 full days in the saddle in Ladakh.

We’ll wrap the tour up at Khan Market in New Delhi, first with a visit to the Royal Enfield Flagship Store and then a farewell dinner at a BBQ Resto Pub. From there a transfer will take you to Delhi Airport for the flight home. We can also organize a final night for you in a good hotel in the Aerocity directly at Delhi Airport if you need it.

Optionally, we offer you an excursion to the Taj Mahal in Agra that includes an overnight stay in a 5-star hotel right next door. Depending on the number of participants, these excursions cost around €250 to €300 per person.

The flights from New Delhi to Leh and back are included in the tour price.
Tour prices:
3,490 USD – bikers in double rooms
2,990 USD – pillion or jeep passengers in double rooms
590 USD – single-room surcharge

We still have openings on three dates:
30 Jun. – 14 Jul. 2018
4 – 18 Aug. 2018
18 Aug. – 1 Sep. 2018

Bikers Support Nepal

We’re gradually wrapping up our BIKERS SUPPORT NEPAL project. One part is still incomplete – the health post in Dubachaur, the project of the FORE bikers from Kathmandu. As soon as we can call the health post a success, we’ll send out a final report to all of the project supporters. Here’s the link to our project website:

Ladakh Aid

Road Captain Peter wrote from Leh in early July:
Yesterday, Roli, Pia und I presented the donation by the Swiss bikers of www.training-reisen.ch to the REWA Society organizers – http://www.ladakh-hilfe.de/ in Leh. Our two Swiss South India groups raised €2,000 last winter, and we handed over Rs 141,000 yesterday ... it was a joy for all of us ... More about the project: http://www.ladakh-hilfe.de/english/

We hope you’re having a great summer with plenty of time in the saddle. Keep the shiny side up! And keep dreaming of your next adventure with us!

See you soon – cruising in the Himalayas, in Goa and the South of India, in Bhutan, or just relaxing with us in Goa…
