NewsFlash
...greetings to all of you, wherever you are! Here is our newsletter for Winter 2013!

For starters we would like to share some news about our recent tours in Bhutan. This October and November we organised four tours, with 38 bikers alltogether. Everyone was very much impressed by this  "Paradise in The Himalayas". As always you can see pictures of the tours on our Facebook albums, you will find some links further down...

... but let's start with some "Breaking News"!

NewsFlash
Get ready to party! Our 7th CBA "Sauerland Party" starts on the 30th of May 2014 !

Next party just around the corner! One of the reasons to celebrate is our 25th anniversary of  â€žClassic Bike Adventures“ in India, but apart from that we're just looking forward to have a ball, together with all of you...;-))

This is what you can expect: A campfire, beer "made in Sauerland", a spiffing barbecue and as a welcome present, everybody will receive a bottle of original "Old Monk Rum". There will be live-music with Roadcaptain Martin and a local Irish Folk band and slide shows featuring our latest tours in Thailand, the Himalayas and Bhutan.

We invite you to test-drive our modified Royal Enfield Bullets, there is a wide range of Scramblers, Cafe Racers and orginal CBA Tourer-Bullets ready for you to take for a spin, maybe some of you Classic Bike friends will commence a new love affair and maybe even wants to own one...

NewsFlash
All bikes have German TÃœV (MOT) and are ready for the road! Our chief mechanic Werner will assist you with any requests for your personal customization ideas, he will also give a "hands-on" workshop...

Party location: Schützenhalle Berbketal, Im Seufzertal 2, 59821 Arnsberg, Germany

GPS Info : 51.402526, 8.051262

If you want to join us at the party we would like you to inform us beforehand via email, just so we can get better prepared.

Again there will be free parking and free camping right next to the "Schützenhalle", and a seperate more tranquil parking lot for campers and caravans.

Those of you who prefer staying in a hotel or B&B should book well in advance since the summer weekends are almost always fully booked in Arnsberg.

Here you can make your reservations:

http://www.arnsberg-info.de/gastgeber/unsere-gastgeber

You can also book via WWW.HRS.DE, but most places will be 6 - 12 km away from the place of event. This poses no big problems though, since most places can be reached by taxis at night for around 20€ !
There is a smaller hall next to the "Schützenhalle" being transformed into a dormitory. If you want to sleep there all you need is your sleeping bag, air mattress/iso mattress and maybe a comfy pillow... Beware! "Heavy snorers - not welcome!

So far we have received over 50 reservations, not even counting in our "next-door" Sauerland friends.

Share a ride or looking for a lift to get to the party? You can contact me directly!

Ladakh – the highest passes and the 3 lakes...
For 2014 we can only offer you two dates:
12.07. - 27.07.2014 (almost fully booked) 26.07. - 10.08.2014

The Burma Scouting Tour is completely booked with 12 participants, it is on its way this very moment. After that it will be followed by the Burma Pilot Tour in Dec. 2014, for this tour we already have 5 reservations. We will get you more information about the Scouting Tour in the next newsletter, and we will surely book the remaing bikes for the pilot tour.

Peter's special Spiti Tour including Sach Pass in Sept/Oct 2014 is already fully booked. I am very happy about that. It will be a fantastic experience and we will let you know about it right here... .

Count Down for the next Tibet Pilot Tour in May 2015 starting... We are open to first reservations already and we will decide wether to give it the "go-ahead" during the Summer of 2014. There is a lot of preparation and organisation to be done for this very special Tibet tour, because for the first time we will be exploring the unknown parts of Eastern Tibet. If we will get the necesary permits from the Chinese is still unclear but we keep our fingers crossed, and our local agency for Lhasa/Tibet thinks there is a real good chance of obtaining the permits. Naturally they do not guarantee that...

Grand Tibet Motorbike - Round Trip - Pilot Tour

Der Termin steht fest : 05.05. - 20.05.2015

NewsFlash

It is an extension of the Pilot Tours done in 2012 - including a detour into the South-Eastern part of Central-Tibet, into a forested area of Kham, situated just under 3.000m (Highlights are  the Draksum Lake, Tashi Gang and the Serkym Pass, Nedong and Chongye, the "Valley of the Tombs of Kings"

We are planning for eight nights in Tibetan Heritage Hotels and seven nights at camping sites, with our Nepali camp crew, who will also prepare lunch for us, giving us the opportunity to stay at the most beautiful spots.

For the first time this tour will be visiting the wild Kharta Valley beneath Mt. Makalu. The tour will end in Kathmandu, we will be cruising down from Mount Everest Base Camp to the Tibet - Nepal border and stay overnight at the "Last Resort" in Nepal.

As always we will be riding our own 500cc Power-Bullets to do this "Best Tibet Routing of all Times".

Flights from Kathmandu to Lhasa and back are included in the tour price. We will have more time to get climatized, since we will only be going above 4.000 after eight days. This will make it more agreeable for "flatlanders" - less headaches and nausea...

Although the exact costs for bikers are not quite fixed yet, we can give you an estimate: 4.950 € for bikers, and 4.450€ for pillion riders, who can also choose to ride in the truck. Flights from Europe to Kathmandu are extra.

In December 2015 we want to expolore for the very first time the most beautiful provinces of Southern China, namely Yunnan. We will start from Chiang Mai in Thailand crossing Laos and then into China where we will ride all the way down to the border of Tibet...
With great anticipation we have been following this travel blog from an international group of bikers who have have done this trip, also starting from Thailand...that gave us the kickstart!

We are about to "rejuvinate" our Royal Enfield  Fleet in India. At the moment we have 32  â€žMachismo“ Lean Burn Engine Bullets 500cc, all were built between 2008 and 2010. After that this model has been discontinued, due to pollution requirements in India. The follow-up model, the FI Classic with fuel injection did not impress us and up to this day that new model has not met the standard of the older one with carburators. Now there is a new model on the market since early summer, a 500cc Bullet with carburator. Here is what it looks like when it leaves the showroom:

We have purchased two of these bikes and modified them to our standards. All through this winter we will test them extensively on various tours. First over all impressions were quite good. If they continue to perform well we are planning to exchange at least 50% of our bikes with these new models. More about that and new pics (...new crashguards, saddlebags and sissy bar) in our next newsletter.

So, that's all folks, everything about the world of "Classic Bike Adventures", we will get back to you next spring with our next newsletter.
We wish you all a de-frosted, mild and relaxing winter...
See you soon, cruising in the South of India, the Himalayas, Thailand, Bhutan, Sri Lanka, or just relaxing in Goa…
