Bikers Support Nepal Website

"Bikers Support Nepal Project" has its own website! is online!

Well over six weeks have passed since the devastating earthquake in Nepal.

A lot has happened since then and we have started to do something really positive.

The spontaneous idea to give support in our own, very special way somehow has evolved into a full fledged project.

We set ourselves a goal:
We will set up two "Solidarity Rides", one in October and one in November, where we will personally deliver our support to Nepal. Since we realized that sufficient cash funds are essential to re-construction projects that we want to support, we have asked for your donations and your support was overwhelming. Thank you all so much for that!

Our website has a list of donors and the current update:

On both "Solidarity Rides" we will visit the projects that we support.
Our Road Captain Hubert has been collecting valuable information on site during his two weeks visit. He kept a diary and you can read it on our website:
Here his last entry after his return to Kathmandu Hubert's last entry, written upon his return to Kathmandu:

Hi Peter,

Back in KTM. All is ok!
Green light from my side.
The full routing from Kathmandu-Citwan-Lumpini-Pokara-Muktinath-Bandipur-River Spring Resort-KTM is still doable, after two severe earthquakes!
Exceptions are the badly hit "Last Resort" and "Charikote Panorama Resort" where I would not go just now, but where our help and support is needed and if we go there we can sleep in tents, like we used to do.
Talked today to the manager of the "Kalobani Guesthouse" as well as with Patrik, the owner from Holland of the "High Plan Inn" (our favourite stays on the "Road to Mustang" Tour). Both have said there are hardly any damages, they did feel the quake but luckily far enough away from the epicentre.

There are daily buses to Muktinath even some motorbikes and Jeeps. Of course it is pretty quiet all around. Bandipur – everything good, will put it on my FB page today. Checked all the bungalows at the "River Spring Resort" could not find any cracks. The swimming pool with all its pillars is intact. Like I said, all good here.

Let´s Rock Nepal Together !
On the way back to Kathmandu, ca. 50 km from "Mugling River Resort" you notice some damaged houses. And it stays like that up to KTM, but all around it is far less then the region of Sindhupalchowk and Charikote,

I still have two days in Kathmandu where I would like to start another emergency relief project for a badly hit village, I’ll keep you informed.

All the best

It was of essential importance to find out if we could do our upcoming Nepal tours this season as planned.

Now we can positively confirm exactly that. Only two of our regular stays have been damaged by the earthquake, but our local friends have urged has to come and visit them, even if we might have to look for an alternative form of accommodation – Why not stay in a tent camp for a change. By the way this is how we always used to spend the nights when we started to visit Nepal, before there were any guest houses and resorts…

On those tours we will get in touch with local "reconstruction initiatives" who can help us to sort out to whom our support should be directed. We plan to stay in touch with those who received our support and how to check on the follow up.

Road Captain Hubert confirmed to us that 90% of our routing is doable.
Mainly people are now suffering from the lack of tourism, no tourists, no work, no income.

Apart from that, the "Chitwan National Park" in Tansen, in Pokhara at the Begnas Lake and in Bandipur everything remained intact just as we have come to know and love it. Also on our "Road to Mustang" Tour from Pokhara through the Kala Kandaki gorge and up to Jomson and Muktinath our scout Hubert could not detect any damages caused by the earthquake.

We are absolutely convinced that we can offer you two exceptional tours this October and November. Now we want to see your applications!

We will put 300 € per participant into the donation pool!    Each tour will have two Road Captains/guides (Hubert, Martin, Tiziana, Peter) and we will have at the ready up to 20 brand new 500cc Royal Enfield Bullets for you.

Sorry, no support for local bike rentals…

Information about the tours :

There will be a bike magazine journalist covering the story and a TV documentary by Uli Brée.

One of our additional goals is to underline the importance of sustainability of the projects. We are aware of the fact that reconstruction cannot be done overnight and we would like to see a continuation of our support in the years to come.

We will let you know about the details which projects we chose to support on our website. We are still in the evaluation process.

If we succeed in a continuous effort we probably will do more "Solidarity Rides" in 2016. A suitable date to visit our projects again would be the 2016 "Magic Nepal Tour" in March, and the "Tibet-Nepal Tour", on our way back from Mt. Everest.

Naturally, we will report on our "Solidarity Rides" at our next Sauerland Party 6.-8. May 2016, where we will ask for donations to support our next "Bikers Support Nepal" tours.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all supporters who have given freely so far! Please do share our website and spread the word in the biking community. Sharing is caring!

Something else: The planned "Grand Tibet Tour" in May this year has been cancelled due to the circumstances. But we will only postpone this tour for a later date, some bikes are still available for the tour in 2016.

If you are interested in the "Grand Tibet Tour" including two visits in Nepal please ask for more information here: Diese E-Mail-Adresse ist vor Spambots geschützt! Zur Anzeige muss JavaScript eingeschaltet sein! Naturally we will visit our support projects on our way back to Kathmandu. A lump sum of 200€ will be put into the donation pool by us for each traveller.
